The Leadville Railroad’s Holiday Express, its two-hour winter ride up the mountain behind a diesel locomotive, starts its 2026-27 season on Saturday, November 14. Riders sit in enclosed, heated lounge cars or the heated 1007 coach, can step out to the open-air cars and the snow globe, and meet Santa, Mrs. Claus or an elf on board; seasonal treats and drinks are sold. Departure days, times and fares are in the railroad’s booking system rather than on the page; book at leadvillerailroad.com or call 866-386-3936.
