Melanzana

Melanzana has made its clothing in Leadville since 1994, and now also at a factory in Alamosa; it says it has more than 80 employees in Leadville and 40 in Alamosa, and that over 20 employees own stock in the company. The store at 716 Harrison Avenue is split in two. The south side is open shopping with no appointment: socks, hats, overstock, vintage and a limited selection. The north side, with the full product line, is by appointment only, booked on the calendar on its How to Shop page. An appointment allows two items from the north side, not counting hats and socks; a customer gets one appointment or one limited online restock every six months, a new month of appointments opens on the 1st, and there is no waiting list.

The store is open 10 am to 6 pm, seven days a week, and closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Its 1% For The Outdoors program adds a voluntary 1% donation to purchases in the Leadville store for the Central Colorado Conservancy, the Cloud City Wheelers and the Lake County Open Space Initiative.

The site carries no dated post (its footer reads 2025), so the second source is the City of Leadville’s Retail Merchants page, which lists it as Melanzana Mountain Gear; that page carries no date of its own.
