Matchless Mine Historic Site

Horace and Baby Doe Tabor's silver mine east of town, run by the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum as a self-guided summer site. Open from about Memorial Day to Labor Day; closed for the season as of October 2026.

The Matchless Mine is the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum’s outdoor site on County Road 3, east of town. The museum’s page describes it as open in the summer from approximately Memorial Day to Labor Day, with a self-guided tour, and on 10 October 2026 it read “Closed for the season.” No daily hours or prices are given on the page; the museum’s own page lists a $20 combo ticket that covers both the museum and the mine, and the museum’s phone is the number to call.

Season and description from the museum’s Matchless Mine page, read 10 October 2026; the combo ticket from its Museum page.
