Museum of American mining in the old high school on West 9th Street, open Tuesday to Sunday year-round. A $20 combo ticket also covers the Matchless Mine; Lake County residents get in free.
The National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum is open year-round, Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm and closed on Mondays. Its Museum page lists a $20 combo ticket with the Matchless Mine Historic Site, free admission for Lake County residents, and discounts for students, seniors and military with a valid ID at the front desk; tickets are sold online or at the desk. The page says a “Sesquisemiquincentennial” gallery on Colorado’s 150th anniversary of statehood opened on August 1, 2026.
The museum’s Events page (https://mininghalloffame.org/events/) lists a temporary exhibit, “Spectra and Strata: The Observatory at Climax,” running October 8, 2026 to January 10, 2027 and included with admission, along with autumn talks and the Silver Social in November; those are on the events calendar.
